Leaving your very first orthodontist appointment with braces on your teeth? It almost sounds too good to be true – but we promise it’s real!
We’re proud to be a Same Day Braces orthodontist giving our patients the option to start treatment on their very first visit. With traditional metal braces, you can get braces the same day as your consultation or get your Invisalign scans done the same day!
Our braces appointment process is tailored to you and your smile needs! Here’s what you need to know about your Same Day Braces appointment with us in Northwest Florida.
Our Same Day Braces appointment process
Before we dive in, there are a few requirements you’ll have to meet to be a candidate for Same Day Braces! Here’s what you can do to prepare:
- Receive a dental cleaning within 6 months of your orthodontic appointment
- Ensure that you do not need any fillings/restorations prior to starting orthodontic treatment
Step 1: Request your complimentary exam
The first step to getting your same day braces is to request your appointment with us! One of our friendly team members will contact you, collect any necessary information, verify your insurance, and get your appointment scheduled!
Easy peesy, and less paperwork for you to fill out at our orthodontist offices in Pensacola, Niceville, Navarre, Pace, Crestview, Fort Walton, Perdido, Cantonment, or Panama City.
Step 2: Show up for your orthodontic consultation
It’s that simple! We’ll welcome you right into our office and guide you through the process. You’ll meet with one of our knowledgeable treatment coordinators, have digital x-rays taken, and receive a quick scan with our iTero digital scanner. With our digital scanner, we can show you a simulation of your treatment results before you even begin treatment!
We’ll also take a few diagnostic photos of your face, mouth, and smile. This helps us build a comprehensive profile for your treatment— plus it’s neat to see these pictures after your smile transformation.
One of our Board-Certified Orthodontists will then perform an exam of your teeth and jaws, discuss any questions or concerns, and go over your personalized treatment plan. Once you decide on the type of braces you’d like, we can start placing your braces!
Your exam and a one-on-one with your orthodontist are included in your complimentary orthodontic exam, which means your braces consultation cost is $0!
If you choose Invisalign® clear aligners for your treatment, we can take your scans in about 10-15 minutes. We are Top 1% Diamond Invisalign Providers, so you can rest assured that you’re in good hands.
Once your set of custom-designed, invisible aligners comes in, you can begin wearing your aligners and your beautiful smile will start coming to life.
Same Day Braces: The placement process
*Drum roll* … Annnnnd now for the moment you’ve been waiting for! During the most exciting orthodontic appointment stage, your new braces will be placed on your teeth. This process takes less than 30 minutes!
Here’s what you can expect:
- Our orthodontic assistants will give your teeth a quick clean to prevent any bacteria from being trapped between your teeth and new braces.
- Your orthodontist will attach your choice of metal, clear, or white-gold brackets to each tooth using a dental bonding solution.
- Your arch wire will be threaded through your brackets.
- This wire will then be secured to each bracket using colored or clear ties. You can express your personality by choosing from a wide variety of colors!
The biggest benefit of same day braces is saving time. Getting your braces the same day as your consultation requires only one appointment, which means less time away from school, work, or hanging with friends. Your entire same day braces appointment process will only take about 1 to 2 hours – then you’re off to create your beautiful new smile!
Life with Same Day Braces
During the first two weeks of wearing your new braces, some tenderness and discomfort is normal. While your mouth adjusts to your new appliances, we recommend doing warm salt water rinses, using orthodontic wax on the irritating areas of your brackets, and eating braces-friendly foods. You can also take an over-the-counter pain reliever, like Tylenol, as needed.
Your orthodontist will discuss proper care and maintenance of your new braces once they’re placed. The most important part of braces care is maintaining excellent oral hygiene. Keeping your appliances and teeth clean helps prevent discomfort and cavities, or tooth decay.
- Gently brush your teeth, gums, and around your braces 3-4 times a day. Make sure to use an ADA-approved fluoride toothpaste and a soft bristle toothbrush to keep your smile happy and healthy.
- Use a waterpik flosser— this makes flossing around your new braces easy and keeps them free of plaque! The best time to floss is right before bed.
- Use an antimicrobial mouthwash once a day in between brushings.
- Stick to a healthy diet. Healthy foods give your teeth and gums the nutrients they need to fight off cavities.
